Cosmeston Sprint Triathlon 2013
Nope, not racing this weekend! I took photos this morning at the club’s Cosmeston Sprint Triathlon. A beautiful location, an altered bike course, and a fair bit chillier this year. Have a look at the Flickr set. Well done all for completing this, especially the fella that almost gave up near shore. Big effort!

Deva Triathlon 2013
Oh dear. They say you learn more from your bad races than from your good ones, so I’ll try to do that here. The Deva Triathlon up in Chester was a World Age Group Triathlon Championships qualifier, and as we have a home World Champs this year, and a home World Champs on the Olympic…

TTG Gloucester Triathlon 2013
The first race is in the bag! It was good to get that out of the way, and great fun on a sunny day in Gloucestershire. The TTG Gloucester Tri is a sprint distance race starting athletes off in a 25m pool at 1 minute intervals, so it feels like a time trial. It was…

Race time
It’s May, and I start racing at the end of the month. The triathlon racing in South Wales is kicking off, with our own incredibly popular Try-a-Tri yesterday, followed by Blaenavon and Llanelli triathlons in the next couple of weeks. I’m skipping those and starting with the Gloucester Triathlon at the end of the month…

Run, rabbit, run
The Llanelli half-marathon started on a cold morning, which is typical of this race, but without the usual rain/hail/40kph winds. There was a fair old breeze blowing by the coast but we had a bit more protection this year on the new course. This is an early season leg-tester/leg-speeder-upper. It’s an indicator of what the…

Llanelli half-marathon 2013
Wow, it’s the first race of the year already. It’s a bit early and I’m not anywhere near race form yet but the Llanelli half-marathon is a good tester and gets some race pace into your legs. Last year I was ahead fitness-wise because of an early European Triathlon Champs in April, but for 2013…

Swansea Health Solutions supporting me in 2013
Swansea Health Solutions will be supporting me again in my triathlon season for 2013. If you follow this blog you’ll know that Gareth has kept me together physically for 4 or 5 years now, and one of the main reasons I can train the way I do is because of the way that he looks…

Kinetica Gower Triathlon 2012
Hooray! This morning was an amazing sunny, clear, blue sky, windless, summer Gower morning! Which was a good job as over 300 of us got up before the sun did to race in a sprint triathlon from Port Eynon. It’s a hell of a lot easier getting up daftly early when the rain…

Another race ticked: Triexercise Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon 2012
Last weekend I turned up to another national champs race: the Welsh National Standard Distance Triathlon Championships at Broad Haven (ooh – I just noticed it’s part of the Grand Prix series and I should be at the next two events too). Pembrokeshire Tri Club’s race in St Bride’s Bay is always good. And hard.…

Brit AG std distance tri champs (abbrev.)
A challenging weekend. A big cross country drive through Wales (pretty), camping with kids in the rain (leaky tent), a broken exhaust clamp threatening to dump the back box (noisy), trying to get kids moving (slow), almost no mobile phone signal (middle of nowhere), and a very competitive race (big legs, lots of carbon stuff).…
