Finally the winds have dropped for an amazing British bank holiday weekend so we’re back out in the kayaks for a couple of paddles around the cliffs of the Gower, looking at the climbing crags from another perspective.
We paddle from Port Eynon around Culver Hole, Paviland, Mewslade Bay and Giant’s Cave to Fall Bay, and then a couple of days later we go from Llangennith across to the Rhossili cliffs underneath all the climbers, cross to the Worm’s Head and out to it’s furthest point, watching the seals.
Plans went out of the window this weekend with some variable Welsh weather. Kim had a bit of a bounce off her mountain bike and we had a think about making a clip stick for some of those sport climbing dodgy landings.
Our last week in the mountains and top of the Otztal valley at Obergurgl. More climbing when the weather clears, great views, peace and quiet. But we have to travel back to Wales and normal life.
I wonder how living at an altitude of 2000m for 2 weeks will affect my fitness when I get back to sea level?
We decided to go to the Tyrol mountains in Austria at the last minute, for a summer break. This will be Annabel’s first time on a plane, and we’ll be looking for rock climbing, geocaches, and mountains. At altitude.
