Freaky. It was the Network Associates (Mcafee) virus scanner that I installed to the webserver that was causing the problems with the webserver. I removed it and all seems well again. Wierd.

Or maybe not. It screwed up again, and switching off the firewall fixed it. Don’t you hate coincidence sometimes?
